The children and nature movement is fuelled by this fundamental idea: the child in nature is an endangered species, and the health of children and the health of the Earth are inseparable.

Story of Wildcrafted

Wildcrafted was born through Forest Friends nature preschool program that I began delivering in 2007. As an Early Childhood Educator and naturalist, I set out to foster children's connections with nature. We observe and reflect on the life cycles in and around the Squamish and Mamquam riverbeds and estuary. As we observed the plants, animals and changes to the land through the seasons my appreciation for each plant grew. Curious to understand their many uses and benefits, I began studying the abundance of edible and medicinal plants of Southwestern B.C. and now am onto studying Herbalism. You can regularly find me in the forest or at the oceanside ethically harvesting wild plants, algae and fungi to create foods, teas, soaps and remedies.

I humbly acknowledge that I live, work and recreate on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples- Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw.

"As a grade 1 teacher, I knew that bringing hands-on learning to our science lessons was imperative. So when it came time for our unit on local plants, I was so thankful to have Rebecca come and lead a foraging workshop one morning with us. The amount of different learning opportunities were extensive, engaging, and flowed really well with our class. We all learned so much, got our hands dirty, and had so much fun!"
